Sealing for optimal performance

Use a sensor-safe sealant on all gaskets and apply it inside all slip joints to ensure an airtight seal and prevent leaks.

Pre-assembly of exhaust components

Loosely assemble all exhaust components onto the vehicle, working from front to rear, piece by piece. Finger-tighten all fasteners and bolts to hold parts together — do not fully tension at this stage.

Positioning the system

Carefully position the exhaust system and check tip alignment at the rear of the vehicle, proper ground clearance, and at least a 10mm gap to surrounding components.

Cat-back gasket note (VE-VF specific)

The semi-circle or round shape found on some cat-pipe flanges is a compressed mesh steel gasket. This must be removed to fit the flat flange and gasket supplied in your kit.

Header dipstick note (VE-VF specific)

If fitting VE-VF headers, the oil dipstick must be refitted concurrently with the right-hand side header while bolting it to the cylinder head. The dipstick will not fit back in place if the header is fully tensioned first.

Secure and fasten all bolts and clamps

Once correctly positioned, tighten all fasteners, nuts, bolts, and clamps. Continuously check position and clearance during and after the process.

Initial test drive

Start the vehicle and allow it to warm up before taking it for a test drive, ensuring the exhaust reaches operating temperature from front to back.

Re-check all fasteners while hot

Once at operating temperature, recheck the tension of all fasteners, nuts, bolts, and clamps while still hot to prevent leaks and parts shifting as the system expands and contracts.

With 4X4 vehicles in particular, check tip alignment at the rear of the vehicle, adequate ground clearance (critical for off-road and uneven terrain use), and at least a 10mm gap to surrounding components, including driveline, body mounts, and chassis crossmembers.

Once correctly positioned, tighten all fasteners, nuts, bolts, and clamps. Recheck position and clearance as you go, and again after completion. 4X4 chassis flex under load can affect clearances — verify generously.
